INEOS ready to make transfer offer to sign £50m ace for Man Utd this month

Manchester United are yet to complete a transfer this month, but they could be about to change that as they are ready to make an offer for a “remarkable” new attacker, according to a report.

Man Utd transfer news

There could be a few big departures from Old Trafford in the next couple of weeks, as the futures of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen hang in the balance. It would be expected that if one or two of these players leave, then United will enter the market for replacements.

United may let Marcus Rashford leave this month and they could already have a replacement in mind.

Antony’s departure could trigger the Red Devils going after Nuno Mendes, as the Paris Saint-Germain defender is high on the list of new left wing-back targets. Talks have already been held with the Portugal international, and United want to accelerate that transfer, as they don’t want to lose out to Real Madrid or Manchester City, who are also interested in signing the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, Rashford’s potential departure to AC Milan could mean United goes into the market for a new striker or forward-thinking player. It emerged on Monday that the Premier League side are interested in signing Conrad Harder from Sporting CP, as he’s seen as a “plan B” if a deal for Viktor Gyokeres cannot happen.

The Red Devils have also added Nene Dorgeles to their list of targets as talks have been held to get an understanding of the price and package for a deal to happen.

Man Utd ready to make transfer offer to sign £50m international

It’s not just Harder and Dorgeles who United are interested in signing, as TuttoJuve now reports that United are ready to make a transfer offer to sign Randal Kolo Muani from PSG this month.

France'sRandalKoloMuanireacts

The 26-year-old France international, who has been dubbed “remarkable” by German legend Lothar Matthäus, has been with the French champions since September 2023, when he made a big-money move from Eintracht Frankfurt after scoring 15 goals and registering 14 assists in 32 Bundesliga games.

Kolo Muani joined PSG as a player who was going to have a bright future at the club, but he has been unable to replicate his best form in France. Last season, it was just six goals in 26 Ligue 1 games, and with only two in 10 this season, PSG are now ready to let the striker leave this month.

TuttoJuve reports that Juventus are considered to be close to signing the Frenchman, but it is not a done deal. German giants Borussia Dortmund have recently joined the list of potential suitors, but according to this report, there could be further twists.

That is because INEOS have not given up on the idea of giving Kolo Muani to Ruben Amorim, and they are “ready” to make their first offer to sign the striker this month. It just remains unclear if this offer would be for a permanent switch or a loan deal, as PSG are said to want £50 million for the forward.

PSG are among the most in-form teams across Europe's top five leagues and after thrashing Ligue 1 rivals Saint-Etienne 6-1 away from home over the weekend, they equalled AC Milan's record that has stood for over three decades. Having now made it 38 consecutive away games in the French top-flight without losing, they can break Milan's record from way back in 1993 if they avoid defeat to Nantes on April 22.

Luis Enrique's men will win the Ligue 1 title on Saturday, should they earn at least a point against 14th-placed Angers at Parc des Princes. The Champions League will then become the focus, with PSG facing Aston Villa at home in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on April 9.

Dream signing for Struijk: Leeds could land a "future legend" this month

The January transfer window officially opened for business on Wednesday and Leeds United now have the chance to dip into the market to bolster their squad heading into the second half of the season.

Daniel Farke’s side are currently one point clear at the top of the Championship table, ahead of both Sheffield United and Burnley who are locked on 52 points, after 26 matches.

The Whites will have automatic promotion as their goal this season after they dropped into the play-offs and, ultimately, lost to Southampton at Wembley last term.

LeedsUnitedmanagerDaniel Farke celebrates after the match

Farke will hope to avoid the lottery of the play-offs by finishing in the top two, hopefully in first, to go straight up to the Premier League after 46 games.

The German head coach, who won two Championship titles during his time with Norwich City, could look to use the January transfer window to give his side the best chance of achieving automatic promotion.

However, he does already have a number of star players who are regularly contributing to the team’s success, hence why they are top of the league, and Pascal Struijk is one of them.

Pascal Struijk's performances this season

The left-footed central defender suffered a groin injury in December 2023 and ended up missing the final 27 matches in all competitions of the 2023/24 campaign.

That meant that Struijk did not play a part in Leeds dropping into the play-off places, rather than finishing in the top two, or in the 1-0 loss to Southampton in the final at Wembley.

The 25-year-old star returned from that injury in pre-season and immediately worked his way back into Farke’s starting XI, starting 24 of the club’s 26 league matches this term.

As you can see in the highlights above, Struijk scored his third goal of the Championship season to put Leeds 1-0 up against Blackburn Rovers from the penalty spot in his last outing.

The Dutch titan is prepared to step up when the Whites need him most, as shown by him having the composure to perform in a pressurised situation with two minutes to go at 0-0 in that match, but his teammates let him down 90 seconds later when Danny Batth equalised.

Struijk has also excelled defensively throughout the season so far and outperformed his centre-back partner Joe Rodon with his performances for the West Yorkshire outfit.

As you can see in the table above, the Dutchman has been more dominant in winning duels and making interventions for Leeds, whilst also not making a single direct error, compared to Rodon’s three – including giving away a penalty away at Norwich.

Leeds could land a dream signing for Struijk and an upgrade on the Wales international by swooping to sign one of their reported targets in the January transfer window.

Leeds United's interest in Ligue 1 defender

French outlet Top Mercato reported last month that Leeds have already made an offer to sign Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens for a fee of €20m (£16.6m).

However, the Ligue 1 outfit are said to be looking for a fee within the region of €30m (£25m) in order to part ways with the impressive 20-year-old prospect, who has emerged as a key player this season.

The report added that Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Newcastle United, and Manchester City are also showing an interest in the young star, along with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Uzbekistan's AbdukodirKhusanovin action with Thailand's Suphanat Mueanta

It is strange to see Leeds’ name mentioned alongside these European giants, as well as Premier League outfit Leicester, but they may feel that they could tempt him because of their ongoing push to get promoted back to the top-flight.

If the Whites have made an offer to sign the right-footed defender, Leeds could go down the route of an initial loan deal with the obligation for it to become permanent if they are promoted, which would provide a safety net for both parties if it does not work out.

However, Lens are demanding a huge sum of money for his services and may not want to send him out on loan with the prospect of potentially not getting any money for him in the summer.

Why Abdukodir Khusanov would be a dream for Pascal Struijk

Leeds should push to get a deal done for the £25m-rated star, whether that is this month or in the summer if they can secure promotion, as he could be a dream signing for Struijk at the heart of the defence.

The 20-year-old colossus has started 11 times in Ligue 1 for Lens this season and showcased his quality in and out of possession for the French outfit.

Paris St Germain's Ousmane Dembele in action with RC Lens' AbduqodirKhusanov

He currently ranks within the top 38% of centre-backs in the league for progressive passes per 90 (3.97), which shows that the youngster could be well-suited to Farke’s possession-based system and share the load with Struijk when it comes to playing out from the back.

Khusanov, who was described as a “future legend” of football in Uzbekistan by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has also proven himself to be a dominant defensive force at the back in the French top-flight this season and could come in as an upgrade on Rodon.

As you can see in the table above, the Lens star has won a higher percentage of his duels and been far more impressive in his aerial contests, which could improve Farke’s team from set-pieces – after they conceded from one against Blackburn.

Khusanov has also averaged more than twice as many tackles and interceptions per match, showing that he constantly looks to step in to win possession back for his side.

Overall, Struijk could love playing next to the 20-year-old ace because he is comfortable passing out from the back and dominant defensively, which could make it easy for the Dutchman to play alongside him.

With Prithvi Shaw out with illness, they have had to make some changes at the top, but Sarfaraz Khan’s striking in the last match is likely to convince the management to persist with him. The bowling unit has regrouped well in the last couple of games after they were taken apart by Super Kings. However, all eyes will be on captain Rishabh Pant, who hasn’t been at his best this season. Emery must drop Rogers for Aston Villa star who’s punished Man City before

Aston Villa are back in action in the Premier League once again this afternoon as they prepare to welcome Manchester City to Birmingham in the early kick-off.

The Villans will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last time out, and are up against a team that is struggling.

It is not often that you can say that Pep Guardiola’s team are vulnerable, but that is the case right now. The Cityzens have only won one of their last 11 matches in all competitions, losing eight of those games.

This shows that this is a winnable match against the reigning Premier League champions and that the Villans are playing them at a good time, before they have a chance to strengthen in the January transfer window next month.

Unai Emery’s side will have to play better than they did in their last match in the league, though, as goals from Nikola Milenkovic and Anthony Elanga in the final ten minutes of the game, including stoppage time, secured a 2-1 win for Forest.

The Spanish head coach could look to make some changes to his starting XI from that defeat, starting with dropping Morgan Rogers from the side.

Why Morgan Rogers should be dropped

The England international has only produced one goal and zero assists in his last 11 appearances in all competitions for club and country, and has gone three matches without a goal contribution.

Rogers has lost possession a whopping 51 times without scoring or assisting a goal for the Villans in the last three games in all competitions, which shows that he has been wasteful on the ball without offering much in the final third to make up for it.

The former Middlesbrough star has been a regular starter in the number ten position for Villa and produced some great moments at times, with four goals and six ‘big chances’ created in 16 appearances in the Premier League.

He has not been at the peak of his attacking powers in recent weeks, though, and that is illustrated by his one goal involvement in 11 games for Villa.

As you can see in the table above, Rogers struggled badly in the defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out, with both his work in and out of possession.

The 22-year-old star was bullied by the Forest defenders, losing a staggering 12 of his 18 duels throughout the match, and did not contribute with a single shot on target or ‘big chance’ created for his teammates.

Emery should, therefore, drop him to the bench for this clash with Manchester City and make the bold decision to unleash the rarely-seen Emiliano Buendia from the start.

Emi Buendia's struggles with Villa

The Argentine wizard has not started any of his seven appearances in the Premier League this season, and did not make a single appearance in the division during the 2023/24 campaign.

He suffered a knee injury in August 2023 that kept him out for 327 days and 56 competitive games for Villa, which he finally returned from for pre-season ahead of the current term.

Buendia has scored one goal in 12 matches for the club in all competitions but only played 231 minutes in those outings, which shows that the attacking midfielder has not had too many opportunities to shine.

He did drop down to the U21 side earlier in the season to play against Fleetwood in the EFL trophy, though, and caught the eye with his performance in the middle of the park.

As you can see in the table above, the Villa number ten was a step above the rest in that match, scoring two goals in a 3-2 win for the young Villans.

Emery must, now, consider unleashing Buendia from the start for the first time in the Premier League this season, because Rogers has struggled of late and the Argentine magician has punished Manchester City with his quality on and off the ball in the past.

Emi Buendia magic against Manchester City

Back in the 2019/20 campaign, the mercurial playmaker was playing for Norwich City and played a huge role in their sensational 3-2 win over City.

The Cityzens were on an 18-match unbeaten run in the Premier League before they travelled to Carrow Road in September 2019 and were met with an impressive Canaries team featuring Buendia as part of their attack.

As you can see in the highlights above, Daniel Farke’s Norwich side pulled off a shock result, beating the champions 3-2 at Carrow Road shortly after their promotion to the Premier League.

Those highlights also show how involved Buendia was in the match. The Argentine dynamo played a key role in all three of the goals, including a brilliant flick over now-Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder Rodri in the build-up to the second goal.

Buendia has the quality to step up on the big stage, as shown by that performance, and has offered glimpses – in the EFL Trophy – of a return to form after his injury this season.

Matthew Potts impresses for England but New Zealand fight back on 17-wicket day

England make perfect start through Potts and Anderson before suffering late batting collapse

Alan Gardner02-Jun-2022If the mantra of this England Test side, coached by Brendon McCullum and captained by Ben Stokes, is about “moving the game forward”, then the first day of the opening Test of the summer could scarcely have gone better. But after a flying start with the ball, England went back to old habits as New Zealand exposed familiar failings with the bat. Seventeen wickets went down on an apparently true Lord’s surface, and come the close it was far from clear which side was on top.The game began in fast-forward, New Zealand sliding to 12 for 4 inside the first hour, but gradually settled on to a more even keel. James Anderson, playing the 170th match of his Test career, and Matthew Potts, in his first, shared eight wickets between them as the tourists were rounded up in two sessions following Kane Williamson’s decision to bat first; they were in dire straits at 45 for 7 only for Colin de Grandhomme to marshal some lower-order resistance. After an encouraging opening stand of 59 between Zak Crawley and Alex Lees, England then shipped seven wickets during the evening session to bring New Zealand roaring back into the contest. Even after Kyle Jamieson produced the initial breakthroughs, they were still well placed on 92 for 2 and with thoughts beginning to turn towards consolidation. But Joe Root, in his first Test since resigning the captaincy, steered de Grandhomme to gully and England promptly lost 5 for 8 to revive memories of the grisly collapses that have disfigured their red-ball cricket over the last year.Related

Crawley was the first to depart, having produced a number of eye-catching shots in his 56-ball 43. But after stroking Jamieson through the covers for four, he attempted another lavish drive off his next ball only to produce a thin edge through to the keeper.Ollie Pope’s maiden outing in first-class cricket at No. 3 did not last long, feathering behind off a rising Jamieson delivery, but it was the dismissal of Root that really shook England’s resolve. Tim Southee struck twice in the space of consecutive overs, trapping Lees lbw shuffling across his stumps after another dogged-but-insubstantial innings, before Stokes edged behind with just a single to his name. The slide gathered momentum as Trent Boult, straight into the side after his late dash from the IPL, claimed two in three balls, Jonny Bairstow dragging on to his stumps and Potts bounced out to conclude an eventful start to his Test career. In true McCullum style, England charged headlong into their new era – literally, in the case of Jack Leach, who suffered a concussion when throwing himself full length over the boundary rope to prevent four and had to be substituted from the game. Matt Parkinson, the Lancashire legspinner, was called in as Leach’s replacement for an unexpected Test debut, although New Zealand’s first innings was over long before he had completed his journey from Manchester to Lord’s.England ran rampant during an exhilarating morning session that saw New Zealand totter in at lunch on 39 for 6, as Potts, the Durham debutant, struck with his fifth ball and added two during an impressive first spell in Test cricket, going on to finish with 4 for 13. If England began the series with, in Stokes’ words, a “blank canvas”, they were soon daubing pretty pictures for an expectant crowd – and such a rousing start might help squeeze a few more in through the gates in the days and weeks to come.Only two of New Zealand’s top six made it into double figures, a grim sequence which included Williamson scoring 2 from 22 balls before edging behind off Potts, Ben Foakes swooping to his right for his maiden dismissal behind the stumps on home soil. Daryl Mitchell struck three retaliatory boundaries only to play on in Potts’ fifth over, and the new boy had a third shortly before lunch when bringing one back up the slope to clatter Tom Blundell’s off stump.Ben Stokes walks back after falling early•PA Images via Getty ImagesNew Zealand’s position worsened when Jamieson was out hooking to fine leg in the first over after lunch, and they were grateful for a counterattacking hand from de Grandhomme, who helped eke out 87 runs for the last three wickets. For all the buzz around England promising a fresh approach to Test cricket, it was the familiar sight of Anderson and Stuart Broad that greeted the New Zealand openers, the new-ball pair back in harness after being dropped for the tour to the Caribbean. Stokes, who wore a one-off shirt in tribute to the hospitalised former England batter Graham Thorpe at the toss, confirmed that he too would have opted to bat, but was able to settle straight into his new role orchestrating proceedings from mid-off.It took Anderson, playing his first Test since helping to secure a draw at the SCG in January, a mere seven balls to find his groove once again. Will Young was lured into pushing outside off but might have got away with a fast, low edge had it not been for a fantastic one-handed catch from Bairstow, throwing himself to his left from third slip. Anderson bagged the wicket of Latham in his next over, with Bairstow again the catcher – this time throwing himself for the rebound after dropping the initial, chest-high chance.Broad did not have to wait long to get amongst it either, luring Devon Conway into a hard-handed prod that again provided catching practice for Bairstow in the slips, leaving New Zealand deep in trouble at 7 for 3 in the eighth over.Their woes were deepened by the impact of Potts, handed his cap before play by Steve Harmison after being backed by Stokes – another Durham and England man – for his debut. Potts had never played a first-class match before at Lord’s, but walked off at lunch with figures of 3 for 8 after living up to his billing as a deck-hitting catalyst of a fast bowler. He was on the money from the outset, and his first victim could scarcely have been more illustrious, as Williamson was drawn into pushing at one in the channel. Mitchell looked more comfortable than most of his colleagues, but was undone by some extra bounce as he looked to defend from the crease, before Blundell also fell cheaply to Potts, whose relentless line left the New Zealand wicketkeeper uncertain of his response, and fatally late on an in-ducker.Jamieson threw the bat at four of his five deliveries after the break, before picking out Potts in the deep, but Southee was more successful in pushing England back, striking four boundaries in 26 off 23 balls. He fell in identical fashion to Anderson, and the removal of Ajaz Patel by Potts with the first ball of his second spell left both seamers contemplating a spot on the honours board. Potts limped off with cramp shortly after, replaced mid-over by Stokes, and the new captain finished the frivolity – at least until England’s madcap final hour.

Christian Pulisic is in the form of his life at AC Milan – now is the time to take the USMNT to new heights

The American star is scoring goals for fun in Italy, which brings him to the U.S. with a different feeling than prior camps

For large stretches of his time at Chelsea, the U.S. men's national team was Christian Pulisic's escape. Times were tough at club level, but no matter how tough those times got, the USMNT welcomed him in with open arms. During the most frustrating periods, the USMNT was there to lift Pulisic up and give him the boost needed to go back to west London with something resembling confidence.

So often, Pulisic arrived at national-team camp needing those boosts. It must have felt like he was always playing catch-up, always out to prove that what was going on at his club wasn't impacting him. Because of that, it's fair to wonder if we haven't really seen the best version of Pulisic in a USMNT shirt. It's been a long time since he arrived in camp with spirits high and a bit of momentum to build-on.

Well, that's what we're getting now. Pulisic is tearing apart Serie A with AC Milan, having emerged as arguably the Rossoneri's best player this season. He's scoring at a ridiculous rate, providing big goals in big moments for one of the world's biggest clubs.

And now he arrives with the USMNT heading into another big moment. The CONCACAF Nations League finals are here, and with them the chance to make it three straight titles in the region. The Copa America looms, too, giving Pulisic another crack on the world's stage as the leader of the USMNT.

First up is this CONCACAF Nations League semifinal against Jamaica. And this match, as well as the final or third-place game after it, could very well give us a glimpse of what's to come from a fit, firing and confident Pulisic later this summer.

Anything would have been better than Chelsea. When it became clear that Pulisic was on the move this summer, USMNT fans were ready to celebrate. Wherever he went, it couldn't be as bad as Stamford Bridge, where he'd been so often glued to the bench amid the institutional chaos running wild in London.

Few could have predicted how perfectly this move to Milan would work out, though. As we head into the final stages of this debut season in Italy, Pulisic's decision looks like a masterstroke.

He has racked up 12 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions so far this season. Those 12 goals are more than any single-season total he had at Chelsea, and there are still a few months to go for Pulisic to run up those numbers.

His best run, though, has come over the last few weeks as he heads into USMNT camp on a hot streak. He's scored in four consecutive matches, two of which came in a two-legged Europa League win over Slavia Prague. His other recent victims have been Verona and Empoli, with the latter losing to Milan 1-0 thanks to Pulisic's goal.

"I'm enjoying it a lot," Pulisic says of life in Serie A. "It's been a good change of pace for me. I'm loving the Italian culture. I'm trying to soak it in. I'm doing the best I can with learning the language. I feel pretty good with all that stuff. I'm loving it so far."

The stats say that Pulisic is playing better than he's ever been, and much of that comes down to comfort and confidence.

Pulisic's Italian is coming along, says club and international teammate Yunus Musah, but it's going to be a while before he catches up to the midfielder when it comes to his linguistic skills. You can't blame Pulisic for that, though, as Musah spent part of his childhood in Italy.

"He's working really hard on his Italian and he's managed to learn quite a bit," Musah admits, giving Pulisic a bit of credit. "He really understands the manager now and our teammates. It's going to take him a little while, though, to get on my level!"

Pulisic adds: "I understand just about everything. They asked me if I could do my interviews in Italian the other day. I said they could ask the questions but I'll answer in English, but next time. I'm getting close, but I'm still not fluent at all."

All jokes aside, Pulisic's transition to Italy has been seamless. It took him virtually no time to claim a starting spot under Stefano Pioli, and he is yet to relinquish it. Given his recent run of form, it doesn't seem like he plans on doing so any time soon, either.

Only Olivier Giroud has scored more goals than him this season for Milan, while Giroud and Rafael Leao are the only two players with more assists than the American winger. There's been no grace period for Pulisic, who jumped right into Italian soccer and found out he can swim immediately.

"I'm really, really happy with the way I see Christian playing at the moment," Musah said. "He's scoring a lot of goals, affecting play a lot for our team. I'd say he's been our best attacking player this season at Milan, so I'm really happy for him. He's doing so well. He's enjoying it, as well, and having one of his best seasons. I'm really happy to see a fellow American do such things."

Getty ImagesWatching from afar

For the last few weeks, American soccer has watched on as Pulisic has torn up all in his path. The USMNT coaches have, obviously, been keeping an eye on him too, and they've been having a great time doing so.

"Us as coaches, we sit back from afar and have to watch these guys play in Europe each weekend," said assistant coach B.J. Callaghan. "It's great to watch them all in form. Christian specifically, it's great to see the variety of goals, the variety of the ways that he's impacting his team at Milan. I think he's doing it with goals, with assists, I think he's doing it on the defensive end for them, as well. He's having a really complete season."

Overall, the U.S. heads into this camp with players in varying levels of form. Gio Reyna and Tyler Adams, for example, haven't played much at all this season, though for very different reasons. Folarin Balogun is the attacking player that can probably use a confidence boost this time around, while Matt Turner also needs a lift after being benched at Nottingham Forest.

There are no concerns about Pulisic, though, who looks more than ready to lead from the front.

"Anytime you see players in form, Christian included, it brings great joy to all of us," Callaghan said. "We know that when they come into camp, there's going to be a high confidence level. Hopefully they can continue to do that and raise the standard as we continue to try to raise the standard of the national team."

It really is hard to believe that Pulisic is still only 25. He's still so young in the grand scheme of things, and that makes it feel like his USMNT career is really just getting started.

Pulisic, though, isn't the newcomer anymore. He hasn't been for quite a while. And, in this loaded CONCACAF Nations League squad, one that Gregg Berhalter said was among the deepest he's ever had with the program, Pulisic is the most-capped player.

"I've been so honored to be able to do this for a few years, but it never gets old," Pulisic says. Representing the USA, doing what I love, it's a blessing."

With 64 caps to his name, Pulisic is the most experienced player in this group. Tim Ream, 11 years his senior, is on his heels with 55, although there isn't really a scenario where the Fulham star ever catches up. Weston McKennie is there with 49 while Antonee Robinson is on 39, taking the third and fourth spots.

Pulisic is far and away the most experienced in the group, and is one of the few remaining who suffered through the heartbreak of the 2018 cycle. He was one of the key contributors that led to the USMNT's World Cup return in 2022. And, now on the road to 2026, he seems ready to take an even bigger step forward, if his club success is anything to go by.

West Ham could now replace Soucek with £35m-rated Italian "dominator"

West Ham United have finally rediscovered some stability in the Premier League after an inconsistent campaign left them all too close to the relegation zone last season. David Moyes' side have used their Europa Conference League win as a springboard for further success, maintaining that form in domestic action, as well as enjoying a successful start in the Europa League, winning both of their group games so far.

From here, the only way has to be up – the London club can't afford to take their foot off the gas when things are going well like they have done in the past. Instead, they have the opportunity to kick on and improve even further, something that one particular star could help with next summer.

West Ham transfer news

The Hammers spent well in the summer transfer window, welcoming the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, who have all hit the ground running at the London Stadium. The credit deserves to go to the recruitment team for improving away from the pitch, allowing for the arrival of upgrades on the pitch.

They won't want to stop there, either, with both January and next summer representing a chance for West Ham to go up another level or two. The latest Manuel Locatelli transfer news suggests that he could be one of those upgrades, too. According to Calciomercato, if Tomas Soucek leaves West Ham next summer, then they could move for the Juventus midfielder, who is valued at €40m (£35m).

Given that Soucek just signed a new deal at the London Stadium, extending his contract until 2028, a move now seems more unlikely for the Czech Republic international. But, if Locatelli becomes available, it wouldn't exactly be a bad move for West Ham to pursue the Italian as an upgrade next summer.

Manuel Locatelli is a "dominator" in midfield

Locatelli has been enjoying his football at Juventus this season, starting in all nine Serie A games, and even netting the winning goal in his side's most recent victory over AC Milan. With Juventus just two points adrift of Inter Milan at the top of the league, too, there's every chance that the Italian could play an important part in a title race this season.

Locatelli's stats, compared to Soucek, are certainly impressive, too, as per FBref, with the Juventus man outperforming the Czech in most areas.

His performances have earned deserved praise, including from Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig, who posted on X: "Fantastic performance by Manu Locatelli. A real dominator in midfield."

With that said, Locatelli would be an ideal arrival for West Ham next summer if Soucek leaves. The Italian is still only 25-years-old, and a move to the Premier League would only turn him into an even better player, such is the level that England's top flight currently operates at. It's still early days, however, and the summer transfer window is currently a long way off, so fans may simply be keen to keep an eye on the Italy international from afar for now.
